West Sikkim

West Sikkim, a region of captivating beauty in India's Sikkim state, is renowned for its lush landscapes, cultural heritage, and spiritual sanctuaries. Pelling, a popular tourist destination, offers breathtaking views of the Kanchenjunga mountain range and is known for the serene Pemayangtse Monastery, a significant Buddhist site dating back to the 17th century. Nearby, the Khecheopalri Lake, considered sacred by Buddhists and Hindus alike, is known for its crystal-clear waters and surrounding dense forests.

Khecheopalri Lake

Khecheopalri Lake is located 135 km away from Gangtok, West Sikkim. It is known as the "wish fulfilling lake" and is considered sacred by Buddhists. Various legends and folklore are associated with Khecheopalri lake. Many stories about Guru Padmasambhava and mythology regarding Buddhist goddess Tara is related with the lake.

Geyzing

Gyalshing or Geyzing is a city, located in Gyalshing district or Geyzing district in the Indian state of Sikkim.It is administrative headquarter of district. The town is connected to the capital Gangtok by a metalled road. Geyzing is also connected to the West Bengal towns of Darjeeling and Kalimpong via Jorethang.A few kilometres north is the town of Pelling.

Pelling

Pelling is a small hill town of western Sikkim perched at an altitude of 6,250ft with magnificent views of Kanchenjunga peaks. When I first visited and looked at the towering snow capped peaks right ahead from the terrace of Norbu Ghang hotel, it seemed at a stones throw distance.
